The tournament’s title sponsors will be donating £50 for every 180 scored during the Betfred World Matchplay, which is being held at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.

In addition, should last year’s total of 330 180s in the tournament be matched or beaten, Betfred will donate an additional £10,000 to the Stroke Association!

Betfred will also be involving participating players in the Betfred Nine-Dart Charity Challenge during the World Matchplay, and donating £1 per point for a players’ total across the nine darts.

Last year’s World Matchplay saw a total of £32,000 raised for Betfred’s chosen charity, Parkinson’s UK, with Sky Sports presenter Dave Clark receiving that cheque from Betfred’s Fred Done.

“This is a great initiative from Betfred,” said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

“We’re all hoping that they can raise as much money as possible for a wonderful cause with the help of our players – and it will give fans watching at home even more reason to cheer every 180!”

The Stroke Association have been chosen as this year’s partner, with Sky Sports commentator Rod Studd – who also provides expert analysis on darts and rugby league for Betfred – currently recovering from a recent stroke.
