To give you a bit of history about the uniquely thrilling Premier League Darts competition, read on below.

Starting in 2005, it originally consisted of seven participants – one of whom is the only person to have taken part in all 13 Premier League campaigns to date.

The event now consists of 10 players, who battle it out around the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands every Thursday evening for 16 weeks in a round-robin format.

After playing each other once, the league’s bottom two in the table are eliminated. The remaining stars then continue to face each other once more on a weekly basic until the play-offs, where the top four tussle at London’s grand O2 Arena for the coveted trophy.

Just five of the 28 Premier League participants have managed to lift the title, with three of them doing so multiple times.

Meanwhile, the most recent 2017 season is the first time there has been no debutant in the competition.

As interest in the competition has vastly grown, venues have become bigger and crowds all the more passionate and energetic when watching their darting heroes.

Memorable nights at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, SSE Hydro in Glasgow and Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, have meant that the event is one of the most exciting spectacles in darts and perhaps even sport in general.
