Jesus Noguera produced a superb run of games to claim his first PDC tour title on Sunday. The Spaniard was last seen, in Challenge Tour action, in mid-2018. His defeat of, multiple PDC title winner, Mark Walsh saw him average in excess of 100 and record five legs of fifteen darts or less.
Walsh’s run marked his first final, in a PDC event, since his 2011 victory in the Gleneagles Irish Masters. Elsewhere Callan Rydz, Stephen Burton and Andy Jenkins continued their good form on the Unicorn tour.
Former UK Open finalist Colin Osborne showed signs of progress, in a fighting win over Dennis Nilsson, before succumbing to Scott Taylor, who went on to reach the Qtr-Finals.
But the outstanding performances belonged to Noguera. A tough run of games started with Prakash Jiwa who was despatched 5-2, Van Peer, Rydz, Burton and Walsh formed the rest of his opposition and were all treated similarly. Considering the form of his opponents, Jesus should be taken very seriously by all those on the Challenge Tour.
