Bunting Moonlights as Promoter. McDine Claims St Helens Classic.

Kevin McDine, a former Grand Slam semi-finalist, produced a superb run to win the first holding of a new Open event in an area of supreme darting talent.

The event was held at the St Helens Hotel and was regarded as a success by players and fans alike.

Kevin certainly worked hard for his prize money. His route included defeats of PDC Tour Card holders Dave Chisnall, James Richardson, Ryan Joyce and finally Mark McGeeney.

The event was promoted and overseen by former Lakeside Champion Stephen Bunting, and Glenn Woodage, in an effort to put something back into an area that produces so many good players.

The winner’s cheque will prove more than handy for McDine who has a difficult couple of years, following a positive drugs test. The top prize of £1000 (& Runner Up £500) is toward the top end of independent events. We hope the organisers succeed in making this a regular event in such a darts hungry region.
