Adrian Lewis was victorious in Milton Keynes on Saturday evening as he won Players Championship Five after showing some terrific form to clinch the title. Lewis seen off Benito van de Pas 6-5 in which was a nail-biter which seen Lewis just edge his way into the second round, He then faced his Stoke counterpart Andy Hamilton in round two, Lewis managed to cruise to a 6-2 victory in that one to book his place in the last 32 in which he came up against Justin Pipe in another close contest which went all the way to an 11th leg, and yet again Lewis showed great composure to see the match out 6-5. In the last 16 he faced a steady opponent in Huddersfield’s Peter Jacques who of course reached the final of Players Championship One recently. Lewis broke Jacques’ throw early on in the match and held his throw defiantly as he cruised to a 6-3 victory. In the Quarter-Finals he faced an in-form Richard North in which was another nail-biting contest and for the third time in the day Lewis managed to just do enough to get the win and book a semi-final clash with Michael van Gerwen. It was a terrific contest which had everything 180’s, ridiculous averages and nearly a nine-darter. Lewis found himself 5-3 up on Van Gerwen as he punished Van Gerwen’s missed D12 for a nine-darter as he took out a spectacular 122 on the bull. Van Gerwen reeled off two legs on the spin to take the match to an 11th and deciding leg. Lewis sealed the win as he picked out tops after Van Gerwen missed his opportunity. In the final, Lewis faced off with Dave Chisnall for the £10,000 prize…

Lewis came flying out of the blocks as he raced into an early lead, but back came Chisnall, but it was too late as he found himself 5-3 behind. Lewis nearly finished the match in perfect fashion as he missed D12 for a nine-dart leg but with Chisnall too far behind ‘Jackpot’ sealed the win as he pinned D1 to claim the title. A lot of the top players had early exits as Van Barneveld, Suljovic, Smith, Van de Pas, Klaasen all suffered first round defeats.
