EASTBOURNE FEBRUARY 2006

PHOTO ALBUM HERE

A special year for this Eastbourne event – 2006 saw it celebrate its 20th Anniversary and, as usual, the venue was packed out.    It was also a packed house for the finals on Sunday evening.    The 128 finals had been completed on the Saturday evening and this resulted in people (who had to work the following day) having more time to stay for the Sunday Finals.   The quality of the games made it well worth the effort - some terrific games were witnessed:

Ronnie Hangs on to 128 Title

RONNIE BAXTER defended the title he won in 2005 (when beating Wayne Jones 5-1).   This year it was with a 5-2 win over Colin Lloyd.

Colin had picked up the first leg in 14 darts but a relentless Ronnie seemingly upped his game to bring off wins in the next two legs with 13 and 17 darts and followed this with a magical 12 darter with a 122 out-shot!

Colin collected just one more leg before 'The Rocket' won the 6th and 7th legs in 14 and 13 darts respectively for the match and with a 33.34 av.

Baxter had previously defeated Dennis Priestley in the semi-finals with the same scoreline of 5-2 and with an even better average of 33.79!!

The other semi-final had seen Colin Lloyd take a 5-4 win over 'in-form- Colin Osborne.

Apylee Jones

The Mens Singles final saw Danny Ballard (Hants) take a decisive 3-1 from Surrey’s Graham Hollis, including a 101 outshot in the third leg.
