JULIE GORE AND GARY ANDERSON LIFT THE GERMAN OPEN SINGLES TITLESGarry Anderson returned to winning ways with a 3 sets to o win over the regning Winmau World Master and fellow countryman Robert Thornton. In the semi-finals Anderson disposed of Scottish captain Mike Veitch without dropping a leg while Thornton got the better of World Nr. 1 Mark Webster by 2 sets to 1.


Welsh Nr.1 Julie Gore won the women's title with a straight sets win over Rilana Erades from the Netherlands. Dutch players Carla Molema and Francisca Hoenselaar shared third place

WITH OVER £15,000 in prize money the England Open tournament at Selsey Holiday Park attracted almost 600 players from the UK and Europe. It was the first major event to be held since the restructuring of the England Darts Organisation last year. Two Scots internationals fought out the final of the Men’s Singles with Ross Montgomery eventually getting the better of
Gary Anderson 3-2 to collect the £2,000 first prize. Losing semi-finalists were Mareno Michels and Edwin Max,both from the Netherlands. England’s Trina Gulliver took the £2,000 winner’s prize in the Ladies’ Singles after beating Russia’s Irina Armstrong 3-2. Losing semi-finalists were Anastasia Dobromyslova (Russia) and Carla Molema (Netherlands).

Results of the finals of the other events were: Men’s Pairs: Martin Atkins and John Walton 3, Ross Montgomery and Terry Rose 2. Ladies’ Pairs: Linda Ithurralde and Wendy Reinstadtler 3,Apylee Jones and Heather Busby 1. Mixed Pairs: Barbara Lee and Ian Brand 3,Apylee Jones and Nicky Turner 1. SCOTLAND MEN AND ENGLAND WOMEN WIN THE BRITISH INTERNATIONALS

SETANTA SPORTS TO SCREEN BDO INTERNATIONAL GRAND PRIX SERIES

 

A new and exciting British Darts Organisation ‘International Grand Prix’ comprising five established tournaments is to be televised live on Setanta Sports from May to September 2008.

The five featured tournaments will be:

  • THE WDO WELSH OPEN: Pontin’s, Prestatyn - MAY

  • THE BDO INTERNATIONAL OPEN: Pontin’s, Brean Sands - JUNE

  • THE BDO GOLD CUP: Lakeside Country Club – JULY

  • THE BDO BRITISH CLASSIC: Kettering Leisure Village – JULY

  • THE BDO BRITISH OPEN: The Spa, Bridlington – SEPTEMBER

The BDO ‘International Grand Prix’ series marks a darts debut for Setanta Sports, which offers an extensive sports package that includes the recently launched 24 hour Setanta Sports News.

Olly Croft, Managing Director of BDO Enterprises, says:

“This latest innovation for BDO televised darts, is a clear indication that in its 35th Anniversary Year the BDO continues to move forward and look after the future of our sport.

DATE CHANGE FOR THE BICC

 

All players are advised of the date change for the last BICC fixture in 2008. Now that the date for the Winmau World Masters has been finalised, the BICC fixtures will be played on 29-30 November.

2008 WINMAU WORLD MASTERS WORLD FINALS

THE SPA, BRIDLINGTON

Friday, December 5TH, Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th

 

THE BRITISH DARTS ORGANISATION is delighted to announce that the World Finals of the 2008 Winmau World Masters will return to The Spa, Bridlington from Friday December 5th to Sunday, December 7th.

The Stage Finals of the Men’s World Masters will be screened live and exclusively by BBC TV on Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th.

 

Following a multi-million pound redevelopment, The Spa is the perfect host venue for the 35th World Masters to celebrate both the 35th Anniversary of the oldest established major tournament in World darts, and the 35th Anniversary of the British Darts Organisation.
